We encourage people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans
and/or queer to apply.
The LGBTQ Parenting Network (Sherbourne Health Centre) is producing a video about the experiences of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Queer (LGBTQ) people with Assisted Human Reproduction services in Ontario.
This work comes out of our work on the Creating Our Families project, which is a partnership project with Dr. Lori Ross (Re:searching for LGBTQ Health, Centre for Addition and Mental Health), and Dr. Leah Steele (St. Michael’s Hospital).
As part of the project, we interviewed 66 LGBTQ people across Ontario about their interactions with fertility services. From that data, we developed a theatre piece that provided a humanized window into the experiences LGBTQ people are having in fertility clinics, including the barriers they may face.
Now we are adapting the theatre piece into five short videos which will be used to educate people working in fertility clinics about the particular experiences of LGBTQ people, and with LGBTQ people looking to prepare to enter the world of assisted human reproduction. We are thrilled to be working with Pam Snell of Collectively Creating as the director of the video project.
